Honoring History - Culture - Music - Community
On Friday, June 19, 2026, Juneteenth: A Long Road to Freedom featured a symposium at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Cold Spring Harbor with scholars, authors, historians, genealogists, and musicians exploring the meaning and legacy of Juneteenth. The program included a powerful panel discussion centered on the importance of preserving Black history, genealogy, family stories, oral traditions, and cultural memory. Guests also had the opportunity to participate in a guided cultural tour highlighting historic communities of color along the North Shore Gold Coast. Sponsored by The Carll Hill Foundation, Whispering Spirit Cultural Tours, LLC, and Share Inform Enlighten, the day inspired reflection, education, and meaningful community dialogue.
The celebration continued on Saturday, June 20, 2026, with Juneteenth Freedom Beats: A Tribute to Long Island Hip Hop Legends — Film, Voices & Legacy at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington. Hosted by Share Inform Enlighten and The Carll Hill Foundation in partnership with the Cinema Arts Centre, the event featured The Long Island Underground Legends of Hip Hop, directed by filmmaker Archie Snowden, along with music, celebration, and special guest DJ Kool Herc. The program also included an engaging panel discussion moderated by Cindy Campbell, The First Lady of Hip Hop, featuring Long Island hip hop legends who shared their stories, reflected on the impact of the culture, and honored the legacy of the artists, DJs, and community voices who helped shape Long Island’s place in hip hop history. The day also featured a legendary DJ set that created a historic moment and brought the energy, spirit, and legacy of hip hop to life.
Both events were a tremendous success and brought the community together in powerful ways.
A portion of the proceeds supported the Huntington African American Museum.
Preschool to Prison:
Screening, Panel Discussion, and Community Conversation
On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, Share Inform Enlighten joined Choice for All, The Long Island Regional Technical Assistance Center (RTAC) for Pre-K & Early Childhood Education, and Pioneering Possibilities for a powerful screening and community conversation at Sag Harbor Cinema centered on the documentary Preschool to Prison.
The evening brought together educators, advocates, youth leaders, filmmakers, and community members for meaningful dialogue around the systems, policies, and practices that impact children and families. The program opened with remarks from Verdel Jones of Share Inform Enlighten, Jacob Dixon of Choice for All and LI-RTAC, and Dr. Karen Baptiste, director and producer of Preschool to Prison.
Following the screening, guests participated in a solution-focused panel discussion and Q&A moderated by Verdel Jones. Panelists included Dr. Karen Baptiste, producer and director of Preschool to Prison and CEO of Pioneering Possibilities; Jared Bermudez, President of the Freeport-Roosevelt NAACP Youth and College Division; Dr. Nichelle Rivers, education leader, multimedia artist, art therapist, and Assistant Superintendent of Schools at Eastern Suffolk BOCES; and Edwin Walker, producer of Preschool to Prison and media and creative strategy consultant.
While the documentary highlighted the realities of the preschool-to-prison pipeline, the panel conversation focused on what comes next: solutions, accountability, collective action, and the steps communities can take to disrupt and ultimately stop the pipeline. The evening concluded with closing remarks and a call to action from Jacob Dixon, followed by a reception with light bites provided by Chara’s Kitchen and Catering, networking, and continued community connection.
The event created space for reflection, learning, and collective responsibility, reminding attendees that meaningful change begins when communities come together to listen, learn, and act.
On April 25, 2026 we hosted our 6th Write Rhyme Recite Collective, an inspiring evening dedicated to celebrating the voices of young poets, spoken word artist, talented authors, and leaders in our community.
