About Verdel A. Jones
Verdel A. Jones is a dedicated educator with over 30 years of experience in K-12 public education, transforming students' lives. In addition to her role as an educator, she is a business owner, experienced talk show host, and author. Her commitment to positively impacting her community is evident through her passion for sharing knowledge, her engaging media presence, and the scholarships she has awarded to students. In addition, she has been recognized by her community with various awards highlighting her commitment to sharing our diverse stories, passion for education, and being a community builder.

In June 2018, Verdel launched her first Write, Rhyme and Recite Collective through DeliTeach Enterprises, LLC, celebrating young poets and authors. This initiative supports literacy and provides scholarships to high school students through a poetry slam. Following a successful second annual event in 2019, this initiative became part of her not-for-profit organization, Share Inform Enlighten Inc., in 2023. Since its inception, Verdel and her team have awarded $16,700 in scholarships to graduating high school students pursuing post-secondary education. As founder and CEO of Share Inform Enlighten, she is dedicated to empowering individuals and communities by sharing diverse perspectives, providing valuable information, hosting workshops, and executing programs designed to foster growth.

As the host of Conversations with Verdel Jones, she has appeared on various media platforms, engaging audiences with enlightening discussions aimed at expanding knowledge. Additionally, she co-hosts the innovative intergenerational talk show, Let’s Kick It With The Joneses, alongside her husband, Jeremiah, and their adult children, Marcus and Miya.

Verdel is the author of the essential guide, The Parent Agent: How to Represent Your Child and Get Them Into the College of Their Choice. Her deep understanding of the college selection process, current educational trends, and the social and emotional challenges students face establishes her as a leading expert in her field.
​
She also co-founded the Black Authors Festival in Sag Harbor, leading the first two years of planning and execution to create a platform celebrating influential Black authors and the power of storytelling. While she is no longer actively involved with the festival, her commitment to advancing literacy and amplifying diverse voices within the Black community remains strong.

In addition, Verdel serves as an advisor for The Horace & Amy Hagedorn Covid-19 Education Equity Relief Fund, which provides resources for intensive academic summer programs aimed at addressing the educational and emotional gaps exacerbated by the pandemic. This $1 million (per year) fund has positively impacted communities across Long Island over the past three years. She is also a member of the Molloy University ELA Advisory Board and the Gold Coast Book Fair Advisory Committee, further showcasing her dedication to educational and literary advancement.

Verdel holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts at Boston, a master's in secondary education from Hofstra University, and a master's in educational leadership from Long Island University. She resides on Long Island with her family. Inspired by Maya Angelou's words, "When you learn, teach; when you get, give," Verdel believes in the power of sharing our gifts for the betterment of others.
